Future of Work: Global Institutions, Policy, Practices and Perspectives
“Transforming Work, Driving Innovation, Sustaining Futures”
Technological change, geoeconomic fragmentation, economic uncertainty, demographic shifts and the green transition – individually and in combination – are among the major drivers expected to shape and transform the global labour market by 2030. The Future of Jobs Report 2025 brings together the perspective of over 1,000 leading global employers—collectively representing more than 14 million workers across 22 industry clusters and 55 economies from around the world—to examine how these macrotrends impact jobs and skills, and the workforce transformation strategies employers plan to embark on in response, across the 2025 to 2030 timeframe. The Future of Work Conference 2025 is the University of Jammu's premier event for leaders who are redefining how, where, and why we work, enabling academics, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society to step into the future and discover the answers to the most pressing workplace questions. Whether you're navigating hybrid models, questioning the role of AI in your business, or exploring how to reshape workplace culture, this is the event for bold ideas and actionable insights. Gain exclusive insights from global experts addressing the most challenging questions in workplace culture, technology, and safety. Explore interactive innovation zones featuring the latest advancements in hybrid office design and revolutionary solutions for workplace wellness and safety. Forge meaningful connections with industry leaders tackling culture and workforce challenges and driving the next wave of workplace transformation. Aligned with India's National Education Policy (NEP 2020) and the vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, this conference underscores the role of higher education institutions, businesses, and policymakers in preparing a future-ready workforce that integrates innovation, sustainability, and social responsibility.
Objective of the Conference
Skills are the currency of the 21st century, and together with education, are crucial factors in determining the future of our societies and economies. Workers, across various occupations and sectors, are increasingly required to adapt to changing skill requirements and more frequent transitions between tasks, jobs, occupations, and forms of work. Automation and Artificial Intelligence may herald an age when transversal skills become increasingly important, and we need to identify skills that are considered distinctively human, such as creativity and empathy. Systems and tools to validate all types of skills remain vital as people's skills still often go unrecognised. Education and training systems need to prepare workers for the dynamic work environment and the individuals who, more than ever, are required to embrace lifelong learning in order to sustain their employability. In line with the European Pillar of Social Rights, individuals should be empowered and provided with the proper guidance, relevant skills, and adequate safety nets to give them the confidence to engage in transitions throughout their careers. This is especially important for the most vulnerable groups, such as those with low skills and those who are disadvantaged. New laws and policies on paper need to be brought to life. We need to have skilled personnel in place to ensure that these rights and policies are delivered properly to those who need to access them. A greater focus on adult learning, including vocational educational training, and enhanced coordination between the education and training systems and the employment sectors will be necessary. Businesses are key actors in this discussion. The question of who should bear the cost of lifelong learning, including in the case of new and non-standard forms of work, is also essential.
The Conference aims to discuss emerging theories, concepts, and models in general, while addressing practical challenges and innovative solutions adopted in various functional areas of business. This will offer an opportunity for researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students interested in issues related to sustaining organisational excellence to share their thoughts and research findings, providing a forum for discussion, collaboration, and intellectual exchange. This conference aims to establish a global platform that brings together all relevant components for driving innovation and sustainability in businesses, enabling them to capture new horizons. In doing so, the conference strongly aligns with the priorities of the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), which emphasises skill development, interdisciplinary education, and lifelong learning as critical enablers for a dynamic workforce. At the same time, the deliberations are situated within the broader national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047, which aims to transform India into a developed nation by fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable business practices. By connecting global workplace transformations with these national priorities, the conference highlights the collaborative role of academia, industry, and government in shaping a future-ready and socially responsible workforce.
